The magnificent Son Servera Pula Golf Resort was, for the 6th consecutive year, host to what has become a top charity sporting event on the Island. The event attracted International Professionals and amateurs alike to raise money for charitable causes. Pula Golf Resort often holds important events known around the world, so it was no surprise to see Spain’s all-time best Tennis player and Mallorca’s home-grown sporting hero, Rafa Nadal, as well as the golfing legend and golf course designer from the Basque Country, Jose Maria Olazábal. These two sportsmen joined forces on the 14th and 15th December together with other golfing greats including Carlota Ciganda, Álvaro Quirós, Eduardo de la Riva, Nacho Elvira, José Manuel Lara, Emanuele Canónica, Jesús Legarrea, Benoit Teillería, Pep Anglés, Toni Ferrer, Juan Sarasti and Nuria Iturrioz
At Balearhouse we believe sporting activities nurture determination, resilience and teamwork. Sporting Events therefore can become the perfect platform from which to deliver a message of solidarity towards those less fortunate. For this reason, we made it our pledge to become sponsors of this event and form an active part of the team. In doing so, we show our support to the social and sporting values that are shared and found in both the Fundación Rafa Nadal (www.fundacionrafanadal.org ) and Jose Maria Olazábal’s Fundación Sport Mundi (www.sport-mundi.org ). A total of 18 teams took part in the tournament and Balearhouse came 4th in their classification. A great achievement, on a great day, for a great cause. In this edition 2018 the funds raised by the Fundación Rafa Nadal will go to those touched by the catastrophic floods, back in October, in the Mallorca town of San Llorenç. The money raised by the Fundación Sport Mundi will be donated to the Save the Children program dedicated to children in a situation of social exclusion.
Gastronomy was also high on the agenda. The event was privileged to have internationally renowned Michelin star chefs Quique Dacosta (3 Michelin stars), Santi Taura and Maca de Castro (both have one Michelin star) who left their kitchens to dedicate their time and savoir faire to the charity event. The results were a first-class gourmet experience. It goes without saying, Balearhouse, will be ever present in 2019 to sponsor the 7th edition of this worthwhile cause and fantastic sporting event. The event organisers, like each and every one of us at Balearhouse believe in doing their very best for social wellbeing, supporting children’s rights and helping people progress.
