The Tramontana; from Valldemossa to the Port of Sóller

“Mallorca is the El Dorado of painting. It is the green of Switzerland, under the sky of Calabria, with the solemnity and the silence of the Orient” (George Sand).
This is how the novelist Georges Sand defined the beautiful landscape that makes up the Sierra de Tramontana.
The lush green vertiginous mountains that reach up from the fertile valleys to the blue sky possess a beauty difficult to describe with words. To truly appreciate the greatness of the Tramontana mountains take to the various viewpoints which reward you with breathtaking beauty that ends in the emerald and the turquoise Mediterranean Sea.
Declared a Unesco World Heritage Site for its natural landscape, this extraordinary 90km mountain range is located in the northwest of the island and forms the backbone of Mallorca. Three spectacular and picturesque villages have managed to maintain their charm and have stood the test of time to remain traditional treasures. Valldemossa, Deia, and Sóller, are stunning typical Majorcan towns nestled between the mountains and the sea. They have been a source of inspiration for artists and authors alike and have become an intricate part of an incredible historical and natural heritage.
